PREPARING FOR SURGERY

When it comes to orthopedic pain, G2 Orthopedics and Sports Medicine doctors Dr. Goradia and Dr. Chu do not believe in a one size fits all approach to treatment. They evaluate all options: repair, replacements, outpatient surgery, and nonsurgical treatment options for each patient. Each patient is fully evaluated with care and attention so he can make the right diagnosis. Treatments plans are completely individualized for all of our patients treating many knee, shoulder, hip, foot and ankle injuries.

Next, each patient is enrolled in our MotionIQ system, where each patient receives regular communication and instructions from Dr. Goradia or Dr. Chu. Thanks to this system, information about each patient’s recovery can be sent to Dr. Goradia or Dr. Chu to monitor remotely reducing the need for extra hospital visits and follow up appointments.

The MotionIQ is a patented sensor technology that allows continuous monitoring of rehabilitation progress and exercises. It also allows for ease of communication with Dr. Goradia and patients to engage in consistent communication for optimal recovery. With MotionIQ Dr. Goradia can review the daily exercises and activity, gauge your range of motion, pain scores for pain management, and provide you with answers to any questions you may have during your recovery process.

With this platform, Dr. Goradia can send tailored and customized messages and instructions while you are in the comforts of your own home. The user-friendly interface makes it a breeze to use for all and after the surgery the following day a home nurse will check in to ensure there are no complications or risks. Patients are consistently monitored to ensure the best recovery process from an Outpatient Knee or Shoulder Replacement Surgery.

COMMUNICATION FROM MOTIONIQ

  • You will be enrolled into the Motion IQ when you are scheduled for surgery

  • You will receive instructions by text or email from Dr. Goradia or Dr. Chu regularly before and after surgery

  • Videos will also be sent to you from Dr. Goradia or Dr. Chu

  • Information about your recovery will be sent to Dr. Goradia or Dr. Chu so he can monitor your progress

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER SURGERY

ONE WEEK AFTER SURGERY

You will need to see a physician to check your incision and have sutures removed. This can be done by your local physician or you can return to see Dr. Goradia or Dr. Chu. You will also be provided a prescription with instructions for you to begin Physical Therapy with someone in your area. Our office will assist you in coordinating this.

ONE MONTH AFTER SURGERY

You should return to see Dr. Goradia or Dr. Chu with an update note from your therapist. Depending on your progress, the type of surgery performed and your comfort level with your local physician, further follow-up appointments with your doctor will be discussed.

PHYSICAL THERAPY AND REHABILITATION

It is important to understand that physical therapy and rehabilitation is not a “one size fits all” program. The follow protocols are only general guidelines. It is our goal at G2 to prescribe treatments on an individual basis. Dr. Goradia and Dr. Chu emphasize close communication with the physical therapists or trainer. The patient should also understand that they play a critical role in terms of active participation and compliance. Once the therapy is completed and you have resumed your activities the investment you made will be well worth it.
