Resources For Patients Preparing For Surgery And Recovery

Preparing for Orthopedic Surgery

When it comes to orthopedic pain, G2 Orthopedics and Sports Medicine’s Dr. Goradia does not believe in a one size fits all approach to treatment. He evaluates all options: repair, replacements, outpatient surgery, and nonsurgical treatment options for each patient. Each patient is fully evaluated with care and attention so he can make the right diagnosis. Treatment plans are completely individualized for all of our patients with various knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle injuries.

What to Expect After Surgery

1-2 Weeks After Surgery

You will need to see a physician to check your incision and have sutures removed. This can be done by your local physician or you can schedule an orthopedic follow up with Dr. Goradia. You will also be provided a prescription with instructions for you to begin Physical Therapy with someone in your area. Our office will schedule your initial therapy appointment.

4-6 Weeks After Surgery

You should return to see Dr. Goradia with an update note from your physical therapist. Depending on your orthopedic recovery progress and the type of surgery performed, further follow-up appointments with Dr. Goradia will be discussed.

Physical Therapy And Rehabilitation

It is important to understand that physical therapy and rehabilitation is not a “one size fits all” program. The following protocols are only general guidelines. It is our goal at G2 Orthopedics to prescribe treatments on an individual basis. Dr. Goradia emphasizes close communication with the physical therapists or trainer. The patient should also understand that they play a critical role in terms of active participation and compliance. Once the therapy is completed and you have resumed your activities, the investment you made will be well worth it.
