Emergency Room Or After Hours Clinic?

There is no convenient time for a knee or shoulder injury, and often they happen in the evenings or on weekends when doctor’s offices are closed.  If you, or your child, were just injured you are probably wondering what to do next.  Should you go to the ER or to an after hours orthopedic clinic?

If there is a bone sticking out you should go to the ER.  For other injuries many people go to an after hours clinic for peace of mind, but this isn’t always the best bet.  In some cases it can even delay getting the right diagnosis and treatment. Why? When you go to an after hours orthopedic clinic for a knee or shoulder injury, you are seen by a Physician Assistant (PA) – not the orthopedic doctor or orthopedic surgeon. The PA will provide an initial evaluation, but you will need to make another appointment to come back and see the doctor – sometimes several days later.

This means another co-pay, more disruption to your schedule and it could be over a week before you even see the sports medicine doctor or orthopedic surgeon who will ultimately diagnose and treat the injury.

Can You Get Fast Appointments To See An Orthopedic Surgeon?

Yes you can.  At G2, patients don’t wait a week or even a few days before they see the orthopedic surgeon.  In most cases patients can see Dr. Goradia, a knee and shoulder specialist, the next day. If an injury happens after hours we know it is scary and you want to know exactly when you can be seen by a doctor. We publish our available appointment times online so you can see what is open, and even book your appointment through our website. Every patient who comes to G2 is seen by Dr. Goradia. You see the doctor the first time which means you start treatment faster.

What Does Dr. Goradia Treat?

Dr. Goradia is a nationally known expert in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine.  His office in Glen Allen is convenient to Hanover, Henrico and Short Pump and is now seeing patients in a second Chester location. He doesn’t believe in a one size fits all approach to knee or shoulder injuries. He fully evaluates each patient, makes the right diagnosis and develops a customized treatment plan for injuries including:

Dr. Goradia is one of only three orthopedic surgeons in Central Virginia who utilize MAKOplasty® robotic advanced technology for minimally invasive knee surgery.

At G2 we treat every patient the same way we would treat a professional athlete.
